What you will need:

  1. Tape Measure (metal ones are best)
  2. Pen and Paper

Exact or recess?
1.Exact - This is when you want your blinds to hang outside the recess (see Figure 1.1)
  2. Recess - This when you want your blind to fit inside the window recess (see Figure 1.2)
 Handy hints
  • Take all your measurements in centimetres (cm) to the nearest 0.1 cm (1 mm)
  • When measuring, always look out for things like window handles, or tiles and take their position into account if necessary. This way you will be sure of a perfect fit
  • Blinds can be fitted into the face of your window frame or wall, or into the top of the lintel
  • Always specify width first then drop
 Exact Measurement
1.Measure the exact width area where you would like blind to cover. Note down the measurement
(Please Note: the width of the blind specified by you will be overall blind size not cloth size. Allowances may vary so please give us a call if unsure)
  2. Measure the exact area you would like the blind to cover from top to bottom as shown in the diagram.
     Note down the measurement
Remember to specify 'Exact' measurement when ordering if you want your blind to hang outside the window recess.
All blinds ordered with an exact measurement will be made exactly to the size specified with no allowance made by us.
Figure 1.1
For exact measurements we recommend that you have an overlap of 51 mm (2") at the top and 38 mm (1.5")
on each side. For vertical blinds we recommend an overlap of 102 mm (4") at the top and the same for each side.
 Recess Measurement
  1. Measure the width of the window wall to wall (left to right) in 3 separate positions, as shown in the
diagram. Note down the smallest measurement.
  2. Measure the drop of the window (head to sill) in 3 separate positions, as shown in the diagram. Again,
     note down the smallest measurement.
  3. For Recess Measurement we will make the necessary adjustment.

Please note that when specifying 'Recess' measurement when ordering we will deduct an allowance of approximately 10 mm to esnsure the blind fits the recess perfectly. Please note that for Vertical Blinds we will deduct 5mm off the height to ensure the vanes do not touch the sill or floor.

Important note for measuring Roller blinds!
For Roller blinds, we have to allow for fittings at either end of the blind, as there is no headrail. This means the actual fabric will be approximately 2.8cm - 3.3cm less than the overall blind width specified.
Example 1- if an ‘Exact’ width of 120cm is specified then the make up of the roller blind will be as follows:
Cloth Size = 117.2cm, Brackets = 2.8cm, Blind Width = 120cm
Example 2 - if a ‘Recess’ width of 120cm is specified then the make up of the roller blind will be as follows after the 10mm allowance has been deducted:
Cloth Size = 116.2cm, Brackets = 2.8cm, Blind Width = 119cm
Fitting your new made-to-measure blind is straightforward. It is recommended that you have the following tools when fitting your blinds.

What you will need:

1. Power Drill
2. Drill bit
3. Phillips screwdriver (the one with the crossed head)
4. Pencil
Which drill bit?

If you are drilling into concrete, brick or plaster, you should use a 5.5mm diameter masonry drill bit. This corresponds to the rawl plugs that we will send you.
If you are drilling into wood, steel or UPVC, you should use a 3mm diameter high-speed twist drill bit.
Advice:

1. Gather your tools and unpack your blind, inside the box you will find all the fixture and fittings that you will need. Now download the fitting instructions from our web site before you attempt fitting the blind.
2. Now, having decided where you want the blind to be positioned mark out the drill holes using the brackets supplied, in most cases you will only need to drill 2 holes at either end. Wider blinds will need more holes drilling though extra brackets will be supplied if this is required.
3. Drill your holes and then screw the brackets into place. You’ll also be provided with rawl plugs, should you need to use them.
4. Fit the blind into the brackets.

  How to order

Insert width and drop in millimetres!

Click "Calculate Price" and after "Add to Basket"

1. For inside recess the factory makes a small allowance.

2. For outside recess we will make the blind exact size and we recommend you add a small     overlap of 75 mm on each side.

Measuring info:

1. For inside recess measure inside the frame of your window from wall to wall and top to     bottom. Do not add or deduct from your sizes.

2. For outside recess again measure as above and select by recess "Outside, exact size" and     also consider adding 75 mm on each side if the landscape allows you to do so in order to     perfectly cover your window frame.

Please note that we would like you to double check your measurements and use our inches converter so there is nothing that can go wrong.
